This is required because the old wiring assumed Expo update-resource tasks always existed and followed the bundled-assets naming. In practice Expo registers create${variantName}UpdatesResources, and only when expo-updates is present. The new wiring keeps bare RN working while still wiring Expo-generated assets/resources lazily when that task exists.

We should keep variant.name here. capitalizedBundledAssetsVariantName is only correct for the RN bundle/assets task naming, and for debuggable variants it intentionally rewrites to the release bundle variant. Expo updates registers create${variantName}UpdatesResources from the raw variant name, so using the bundled-assets variant name here would point at the wrong task.

We moved off Rock’s packageIosAction because the packaging contract in this PR is broader than “build the app framework and merge slices”. We now need to package support modules from mixed framework/static-lib outputs, copy Hermes and React prebuilts explicitly, sanitize Swift interfaces, strip support-module binaries to interface-only, and package ReactAppDependencyProvider for the newer RN prebuilt-pods layout. The old helper did not give us enough control over that artifact-shaping step, so we took over the packaging flow locally after buildApp(...).

This is not Expo 56-only. It is a compatibility patch for the react-native-worklets imported library path used by the Expo Android lanes under newer AGP/CMake output layouts. Expo 56 exposed it more clearly, but Expo 55 is affected too.

This change is required for source-mode plugin resolution in generated Expo apps. The previous mutation only added the Brownfield module include, which is not enough for the modern Gradle plugin DSL. We also need pluginManagement wiring so the Brownfield Gradle plugin can actually be resolved from node_modules.

As far as the setup, the brownfield gradle plugin should only be consumed by either Maven local or Maven central.
We do not support consuming BGP by source. So the current shape on main is valid.
For consuming BGP as local source, there is a PR effort going on here - #359
I would suggest reverting this back and matching the process as we have on main, which means we should not even need any BGP consumption change here.

Yes, this change is required, although it is broader than Expo 56. The generated Brownfield Android module should inherit compileSdk from the host app by default instead of baking in a stale value. Expo 56 made that mismatch visible because the host app moved up its Android toolchain floor.

This change usually reflects a escape hatch on RN Apps. What I mean is this is kind of a workaround and perhaps the real issue is with libraries duplicating. My intuition is that this line was added after the CMAKE patches made above.

As far as the setup, the brownfield gradle plugin should only be consumed by either Maven local or Maven central.
We do not support consuming BGP by source. So the current shape on main is valid.
For consuming BGP as local source, there is a PR effort going on here - #359
I would suggest reverting this back and matching the process as we have on main, which means we should not even need any BGP consumption change here.
